Man Found Guilty in 2007 Coral Gables Jogger's Murder

A man accused of murdering a jogger in Coral Gables eight years ago was convicted of first-degree murder and armed robbery Monday.

Kendrick Silver, 27, was found guilty on both counts and now could face a sentence of death in the 2007 murder of Jose Marchese.

Prosecutors said Silver robbed Marchese at gun point, taking his cell phone. Marchese was out jogging and on his way to his Coral Gables apartment.

His wife, Gisele Campos-Marchese, held him in her arms as he died after staggering into the couple's bedroom.

Detectives were looking for Silver and another man after they allegedly shot and wounded three people at a pizzeria in Delray Beach. Police found them hiding out on a boat with two guns and Marchese's cell phone.

The other man, Oniel Pedley, is now in prison serving a life sentence. Silver's sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 21.
