Man Groped Jogger in Davie Park, Possibly at Cooper City Park: Police

Police are searching for a man who groped a jogger in a Davie park and may be behind a similar incident at a Cooper City park.

Davie Police say the 20-year-old woman was jogging on the trails at Vista View Park on Southwest 142nd Avenue the afternoon of March 15 but was wearing headphones and couldn't hear the man approaching.

The man groped her buttocks and she ran away but was pursued by the suspect, who caught up to her and started groping her genital area and buttocks again, police said. The woman screamed and the man fled the scene.

Police said a similar incident was reported about a half hour earlier at Brian Piccolo Park in Cooper City. The description of the suspect and vehicle were similar to the incident at Vista View Park, police said.

"I told him I don't walk, I run and that's when he grabbed my thigh and said, 'You're in good shape,'" explained the victim at Brian Piccolo Park. "He then pulled his pants down to expose himself."

The woman said she was almost victimized by the man, matching police's description from the Vista View Park incident. She got away and she's grateful she decided not to run in a more secluded area.

Authorities released a sketch of the suspect Friday, who is described as a light-skinned black male, 25 to 26 years old, about 6-foot, with a medium build, brown eyes and brown/black hair. Security cameras captured a photo of the car, a gray, 4-door 2007-2008 Nissan Altima or Maxima.

Anyone with information is asked to call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
