A man lying in the middle of the road was run over by a car and killed in the Fort Lauderdale area late Wednesday.
The victim, a 50-year-old man from Pompano Beach, was hit just before 11 p.m. near the 1800 block of State Road 7 in an unincorporated area of Fort Lauderdale, according to the Broward Sheriff's Office. The man "staggered" through the street before he fell and was struck by a driver going northbound on State Road 7, BSO said. Authorities believe man may have been under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
