Both victims were pronounced dead at the scene.

A man lying in the middle of the road was run over by a car and killed in the Fort Lauderdale area late Wednesday.

The victim, a 50-year-old man from Pompano Beach, was hit just before 11 p.m. near the 1800 block of State Road 7 in an unincorporated area of Fort Lauderdale, according to the Broward Sheriff's Office. The man "staggered" through the street before he fell and was struck by a driver going northbound on State Road 7, BSO said. Authorities believe man may have been under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

Broward Sheriff's Office Traffic Homicide Investigation detectives are reviewing the death. Anyone with information is asked to contact Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS.
