Man Killed During Shootout in Miami Gardens; 2 Others Injured

A 24-year-old man was shot and killed in Miami Gardens on Sunday.

The incident happened shortly after midnight at the 19000 block of Northwest 41st Court.

Police arrived to the scene and found that Tristian Hanson had been shot. He was airlifted to the hospital, where he later died.

Police said Hanson was visiting from Coral Springs to celebrate Father's Day with his dad. Neighbors say they heard more than 60 gunshots and police confirmed that multiple rounds were fired.

As police continued their investigation, they found that two others were also shot in the hail of gunfire. They were taken to the hospital. One is in critical condition, while the other was released from the hospital.

A neighbor told NBC6 the incident happened during a party. About 15 minutes after the party ended, a shootout ensued that spanned across the entire block.

"I heard the gunfire and unfortunately, it happens so often, when you hear the first shot, wherever you're at, you get on the floor and hope that you don't get shot," said neighbor Charles King.

King said he knew Hanson as he was growing up, playing football with him outside. But back then, times were different.

"This neighborhood has changed," he said.

Miami Gardens Chief of Police Delma Noel-Pratt released a statement about the recent spate of shootings in the city, saying:

"There are no words that can take away the pain that the affected families must feel at this time. My heart goes out to the families and the community. We at the City of Miami Gardens Police Department will work diligently to investigate these incidents."

No arrests have been made yet. Anyone with information on this incident is urged to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
