Man Left Paralyzed in Home Invasion Shooting Still Looking for Suspects

A man who was left paralyzed during a home invasion shooting in Miami-Dade in August is still hoping the suspects can be found.

Bryan Perez said it's been a difficult road to recovery and that his life has completely changed.

"All the pain I suffered, like there's days that I just wanted to cut my legs off," Perez said at a news conference Friday.

Wheelchair-bound and still recovering from multiple gunshot wounds, Perez vividly remembers the night of August 18th. Perez said he was on his porch with his cousin when he saw three young men walking toward his apartment.

"They just came at me, with three guns drawn to my head," he said.

According to police, the suspects then forced the victims inside the apartment off of Northeast 207th Street and 4th Avenue. Perez didn't want to let them in because he knew his pregnant girlfriend and mother would be in harm's way. Once Perez tried closing the sliding glass door, one of the suspects fired several shots.

"I didn't feel my legs, I fell straight to the ground, then I see a puddle of blood," he said.

Perez's mother said she thought her son was dead. The suspects then ran-off in an unknown direction, but police believe someone must know something.

"Perhaps they live in that area because they appear to be young students. Anywhere between late middle school, early high school," Miami-Dade Police spokesman Alvaro Zabaleta said.

"God knows what else they're doing out there. I just hope the community could reach out," Perez said.

Anyone with information about this shooting is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
