Man Posed as Cop, Threatened Women With Jail If They Didn't Have Sex: BSO

A Broward man accused of posing as a police officer and telling about a dozen women they'd go to jail if they didn't have sex with him was behind bars Thursday.

Mark William Rose, 22, is charged with impersonating a law enforcement officer in the commission of a felony and false imprisonment following his arrest Wednesday, according to a Broward Sheriff's Office arrest report.

Rose, of Lauderdale Lakes, appeared in bond court Thursday where he was ordered held on $10,000 bond. It was unknown if he's hired an attorney.

According to the arrest report, Rose was busted after one of the women didn't buy his story. The women told deputies Rose had solicited her for sex in Fort Lauderdale and she agreed and got in his car, the report said.

After he drove her to an area with warehouses, she questioned whether Rose had a condom and what she would be paid. When he told her he would pay her based on her performance, she refused and said he needed to take her home, the report said.

Rose told the woman that he was a police officer and that she was under arrest and going to jail, the report said. He even brought her to the Broward Sheriff Office Public Safety Complex and brought her to the front door and pretended to call someone to let him in the doors, the report said.

"Give me a reason why I should let you go," he told the woman, according to the report.

After they returned to his car, the woman became suspicious that Rose wasn't a real officer. After he drove her to another warehouse area, the woman called 911, and Rose was arrested nearby, the report said.

Rose admitted to the incident and told deputies that in the past few months he had picked up about 12 women, mostly prostitutes, and brought six to the BSO building, the report said.

He told the women he was a police officer and that they were under arrest, and three of the women believed Rose was a cop and had sex with him, the report said.
