Man Punched and Choked Woman in Armed Home Invasion in Miami-Dade

Police are looking for a suspect who choked and punched a woman during an armed home invasion in northwest Miami-Dade before he tied her up and fled the scene in her SUV.

The incident happened back on the morning of June 4 when the victim, 60-year-old Maria Moya, arrived to her home on Northwest 109th Place and found the suspect in her bedroom, Miami-Dade Police said.

Moya tried to leave the home, but the suspect grabbed her and started to punch and choke her, police said. He armed himself with a knife and forced her back into her bedroom where he tied her to a dresser.

"He punched me in the mouth and choked me, then I fell to the floor and he dragged me by my feet," Moya told NBC 6 in Spanish Wednesday.

Surveillance footage from outside the home showed the suspect leaving with Moya's 2015 Toyota 4Runner.

"What hurts me the most is that he took things that belonged to my son who died in October," Moya said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
