A Pembroke Pines man was killed while riding his dirt bike after a collision with a car in Broward County, authorities said.

Adalberto Lugo Jr., 22, was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident, which was at the intersection of U.S. 27 and Sheridan Street, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office. Deputies said he was driving his yellow Suzuki Dirt Bike westbound Saturday morning when he ran a red light and traveled into the path of a car.

Nineteen-year-old Steven Dougherty, who was at the wheel of the purple Mazda 6, remained at the scene and cooperated with authorities.

The BSO said the dirt bike is intended for off-road use only and had no working headlight at the time of the crash.
