Man Sentenced for Involvement in Novack Murders

Joel Gonzalez was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

One of the men involved in the 2009 killing of a Florida millionaire has been sentenced to 10 years in prison.

Joel Gonzalez was sentenced Thursday for the fatally beatings of Ben Novack Jr. at a Westchester County hotel room and Novack's mother, Bernice Novack, at her Fort Lauderdale home.

Ben Novack's father built the Fontainebleau hotel in Miami Beach.

Gonzalez was a key cooperating witness for the prosecution.

He testified against Novack's widow, Narcy, and her brother, Cristobal Veliz. The siblings were convicted of arranging the beating deaths.

They are serving life in prison.
