Man Seriously Injured in NW Miami-Dade Hit-and-Run

Miami-Dade Police are investigating a crash that sent one person to the hospital.

It happened around 2:40 a.m. on April 10 in the 2200 block of Northwest 41st Street.

According to police, the victim was traveling southbound on Northwest 22nd Avenue when a black 2013 Kia Optima, traveling at high speeds, struck the rear of the victim's vehicle.

The driver of the Kia Optima fled the scene without giving aid.

"We followed the trail that went off the roadway. Possibly made a U-Turn and continued Northbound on 22nd Avenue," said Det. Orlando Sosa with MDPD. "It's got extensive front-end damage."

Police said the Kia Optima may also be missing the driver-side headlight.

The victim, a 38-year-old male, was treated by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue and transported to the Ryder Trauma Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital. He remains in critical but stable condition.
