A would-be robber was shot and killed Sunday morning by his victim in West Palm Beach, officials said.

According to the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office, a couple was walking to their apartment around 2 a.m. when an armed man approached them. The suspect forced the couple into their apartment and while he was ransacking their home, one of the victims began to fight with him, the Sun Sentinel reported.

The victim grabbed the gun and shot the robber who collapsed on the walkway and died, according to the newspaper.

Authorities have not released the names of the victims or the suspect.
