Family Discovers Young Man Shot to Death in Car

21-year-old Kelvin Walden found outside Oakland Park apartment complex

Broward Sheriff's detectives are investigating after a young man who'd been missing since Tuesday turned up shot to death in his car in Oakland Park.

Family members of 21-year old Kelvin Walden said they hadn't heard from him for an entire day. He said he was going to visit a friend at Crystal Lake Apartment Complex located at 4100 NW 21st Avenue on Tuesday, but when they didn't hear from him all day, they called authorities.

By Wednesday night, Walden's family went to the apartment complex to look for him themselves. That's when they noticed his car parked in the back parking lot of the complex, and made the terrifying discovery.

"In the front windshield, on the driver's side, a bullet went through the windshield and his body was slanted to the right," said Sadae Walden, Kelvin Walden's cousin.

Another cousin, Tiffany Mickel, said Walden's mother was the one who opened the door to the car. "When mom came, she opened the door and she found her son and he fell in her arms and we just want some closure," Mickel said.

Broward County Sheriff's deputies responded to the scene and after a lengthy investigation they officially ruled the case a homicide. Authorities have not commented on who may have shot Walden or why.
