Man Shot During Overnight Robbery Attempt in Wynwood

Surveillance video obtained by NBC 6 shows the moments when a man ran for his life, trying to escape flying bullets in Wynwood. One man was hit by the bullets and was recovering in the hospital Thursday.

Shortly before 1:30 a.m., reports say three men were walking back to their car near Northwest 26th Street and 2nd Avenue to get an item while heading to a party in the area. That’s when one of the men told reporters several people wearing masks came up at gunpoint and attempted to rob them.

"All three of them had weapons," one robbery victim, who did not want to be named, told reporters. "One told us to get on the ground...I ran off and heard two shots."

One of the victims, identified as a 25-year-old by his friends, was shot in the chest and rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he is in stable condition according to his grandfather. No word on any other injuries to the other two robbery victims.
