A man shot his girlfriend's ex-husband after the ex-husband kicked in the door to his Tamarac apartment Tuesday morning, authorities said.
The incident happened just after 6 a.m. at the Midora at Woodmont apartments at 7780 Northwest 78th Avenue, the Broward Sheriff's Office said.
According to the BSO, the woman and her boyfriend were both inside when the ex-husband kicked the door open. The boyfriend opened fire, and the ex-husband was airlifted to Broward Health North.
The ex-husband was breathing but the extent of his injuries were unknown. No one else was injured and none of the three were identified.
Neighbor Mickey Davis lives below the apartment and said she heard the door being kicked in.
"I got woken up this morning by a bunch of banging, it sounded like earthquakes," Davis said. She said she also heard some of the exchanges between the woman and her ex-husband.
"He was talking to her about how he was going to die and he was saying good bye to her," Davis said. "She's screaming to him wake up, because at some point he stopped talking to her."
Detectives with the BSO are still investigating the shooting.
