Police investigating officer-involved shooting in northwest Miami-Dade

Police are investigating after a man was shot and killed by officers in northwest Miami-Dade late Tuesday night.

The incident happened around 11:15 p.m. as detectives with the Robbery Intervention Detail were conducting surveillance in the 1400 block of Northwest 113th Street, Miami-Dade Police said.

During the surveillance, detectives saw the unidentified man arrive and park near the detective's vehicle.

Police Hunt Suspect in Pompano Beach Shooting

When the man got out of his vehicle and approached the detectives with one hand behind his back, the detectives identified themselves as police officers and ordered the man to stop and show his hands, police said.

A confrontation ensued, shots were fired and the man was fatally wounded, police said. Police didn't say whether any officers were injured.

Detectives found a firearm on the victim at the scene and the investigation is ongoing, police said.
