Police say a man is dead after a night of drinking ended in a stabbing in Miami Tuesday

Police say a man is dead after a night of drinking ended in a stabbing in Miami Tuesday.

The incident happened at the picnic tables in the back of the Chevron parking lot on Northwest 7th Street.

Officials said an argument between two men resulted in a stabbing with the victim leaving a trail of blood behind while running to get help. Bloody footprints lined the sidewalk of Northwest 7th street for several yards.

The wanted man, who stood out because he was wearing a heavy jacket in the warm weather, was armed with a knife and traveled with a small dog by his side, according to police.

The victim, identified as 41-year-old Reinaldo Martinez, ran to the Bella Vista Apartment complex parking lot, into one of the buildings and to the door of an apartment, where the his mother lives.

"It looks very heavy, a lot of multiple stabbings there. Because you can even see the print of his shoe, so they stabbed him up really bad," neighbor Osmany Betancourt said.

Martinez's mother said her son came pounding on the door and collapsed as soon as she opened it. Police said Martinez died at the hospital.

"I feel really bad for his mother, I hope justice is served," Betancourt said.

Police haven't released a description of the suspect or where he ran off to. Anyone with information is asked to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
