A Coral Springs man was arrested after deputies said he stole the sign off a judge’s chamber door and then posted a picture with it on Facebook, according to Broward County Sheriff’s Office.

Steven Patrick Mulhall, 21, was arrested and faces one count of petit theft. Mulhall also has two or more prior convictions, according to the complaint affidavit.

On Feb. 23, deputies said Mulhall removed the name tag off of Judge Michael J. Orlando’s door in the Broward County Courthouse. The Facebook page of his girlfriend Natalie Coma Toze Segura had the photo of Mulhall with the sign, according to the affidavit.

Authorities were alerted to the Facebook picture from an anonymous tip.

"The nameplate is like only $40, not that big of a crime, but what an idiot,” Broward County Sheriff Al Lambert was quoted as saying in the South Florida Sun Sentinel. “He puts it on Facebook.”
