Man Barricaded on Roof of 26-Story Hollywood Building in Police Custody

Police have secured a man who barricaded himself on the roof of a building in downtown Hollywood and began throwing debris to the ground below early Sunday, officials say.

The man was reported on top of a 26-story building under construction in Hollywood’s Young Circle around 3 a.m., Hollywood Police spokesperson Christian Lata said.

Lata say a concerned citizen called the Hollywood Police Department because they heard noises coming from the construction site. Once officers arrived, they attempted to make contact with the man, later identified as 27-year-old Travis Bernard Bray.

Authorities say Bray ignored officers and proceeded to climb a crane. The man then threw several objects down, including buckets, wood, plastic and clothing.

After hours of speaking with officers, Bray made his way down the crane and was taken into police custody. He was being transported to a local hospital for evaluation.

Bray was later charged with criminal mischief and trespassing.
