Man Tried to Abduct Teen From Miami Bus Stop

Teen fights off suspect who makes frightening promise

Police are looking for a man they say tried to grab a teenage girl as she waited at a Miami bus stop Wednesday morning.

The incident happened around 7 a.m. as the 16-year-old waited for a bus in the area of Northwest 42nd Ave. and 7th St.

According to police, the suspect, described as a man aged 35 to 40, 5-foot-8 and about 160 pounds, drove past the girl and tried to get her attention.

The girl ignored him, listening to the music on her iPod, but minutes later, the man returned. He reportedly got out of his car, approached the girl and grabbed her arm and tried to pull her into his car.

According to police the girl "held on for dear life" to the bus bench and began screaming for help as she struggled with the man.

"He told me if I didn't want to get in his car that he was going to make me get in his car, then he grabbed my hand and I started to scream and scream because I didn't know what he was going to do," the girl said.

A female passerby began yelling at the man to let the girl go, and he did.

But before he left, the man blew the girl a kiss and gave her a chilling promise, police said.

"Before he gets in that driver's side of the car, he blows her a kiss and tells her 'We'll see each other again,' and drives off," said Miami Police spokesperson Kenia Reyes.

Police released a sketch of the man late Thursday, and are asking anyone with information to call Miami-Dade CrimeStoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
