Man Wanted for Forcing Women Into Prostitution in Miami Gardens Arrested: Police

A man wanted for nearly a year on human trafficking charges in Miami Gardens has been arrested, authorities said Thursday.

Johnnie Randell Wilson Pigatt, 33, was arrested in Miramar on a human trafficking/coerce into commercial sex activity charge, Miami Gardens Police said.

Police said two women were held against their will, beaten, and forced into commercial sexual activities to produce money for the house in which they were held captive. They were forced to hand over the money they earned and were kept without medical care or a way to escape, police said.

Two women, Destinee Thompson and Courtney Robinson, were arrested last November on human trafficking charges in the case. Robinson and Thompson puts ads on Backpage.com offering both of the victims for prostitution, police said.

Pigatt fled last year after a warrant was issued for his arrest but he was tracked throughout the United States by the U.S. Marshal Service, authorities said. He was booked into jail and being held without bond Thursday, and attorney information wasn't available.

Police are looking for more possible victims of Pigatt and are asking anyone with information to call Miami Gardens Police at 305-474-1579.
