Man Wanted for Attempted Sexual Assault on Elderly Woman: MDPD

The Miami-Dade Police Department's Special Victims Bureau is investigating a burglary and attempted sexual assault involving an elderly woman.

It happened around 6 a.m. on March 27 in the area of Southwest 152nd Street and Southwest 107th Avenue in Miami.

Police said the male suspect knocked at the 74-year-old victim's door, forced his way into the residence and pushed the victim to the floor. He then tried to take off her clothes to sexually assault her but the victim was able to resist, police said.

Detectives are looking into the possibility that this man may have victimized other women.

"I am going to be watching out and keeping my eyes open as to what's going on around here," said Martha Alfred, neighbor.

Detectives are requesting the public's assistance in identifying or locating the suspect. He is between 18 and 25 years of age, approximately 5'7" with a medium to heavy build, and was last seen wearing a white shirt and dark shorts.

"They don't know if this was an isolated case or if there might be other victims out there. For that reason, we are encouraging the public, if there are any victims, who were victimized by this individual, to please contact our detectives," said Dan Ferrin with MDPD.

Anyone with information is urged to call Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS.
