Police are searching for a hit-and-run driver who struck and killed a man with Cerebral Palsy in northwest Miami-Dade.
Rudy Aponte, 48, was killed in the crash that happened around 11:20 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Northwest 32nd Avenue and Northwest 46th Street, police said.
Aponte had gone to a nearby grocery store and was crossing the street but was moving slowly because of his condition, police said.
A small dark-colored vehicle struck him and fled the scene. Aponte was pronounced dead at the scene.
"I heard a loud noise. Boom, and when I looked around I seen the guy flipping in the air and the car kept speeding up the street," witness George Davis said.
Aponte's best friend was with him at the time and and voiced her anger and disgust for the driver who left him for dead.
"The car didn't stop and just killed my best friend," she said. "And definitely this person needs to be found for him to come to justice. My friend was brutally murdered and killed by somebody who wasn't responsible at the time."

In Northwest Miami-Dade, detectives walked up to stopped cars, handing out flyers, in hopes of finding someone who may have seen something and to jog some memories.
"We're asking any information from the community," said Alvaro Zabaleta of the Miami-Dade Police Department. "If anybody were to know anything, no matter how small it may be... because again somebody may have seen the vehicle drive away at a high rate of speed and at the time may not think of anything at the time."
Detectives say they are looking for a small dark colored vehicle, but the car will have extensive front end damage.
