Man Held Woman, Sexually Assaulted Her for Hours: Miami Police

A man was taken into custody after police set up a perimeter around a Miami home Monday morning.

A man who held a woman against her will and sexually assaulted her for several hours was arrested at his home in Miami Monday morning, police said.

Julio Cordero, 43, was taken into custody after police set up a perimeter around  his home in the 1300 block of Northwest 39th Street, City of Miami Police said.

According to police, Cordero met the victim at a cafeteria in Hialeah around midnight on Saturday and offered her a ride home.

Once she was inside the vehicle, the 27-year-old victim realized she wasn't being taken home and demanded to be dropped off, police said.

Cordero took her to his home and told her if she screamed for help he would kill her, police said.

Once inside his home, Cordero tied the woman up and threatened her with knives, police said. He forced her to use drugs and alcohol and the sexually assaulted her for several hours, police said.

Early Sunday, he robbed the woman and told her to leave, police said. The woman called police and Cordero was arrested a few hours later.

Officers were seen placing the shirtless man into the back of a police cruiser early Monday.

"The victim right now is shaken up,” Miami Police spokesman Sgt. Freddie Cruz said. “As you can imagine she is a victim basically kidnapped and raped."

Cordero is facing charges of false imprisonment, armed sexual battery, possession of marijuana and possession of cocaine. He was being held without bond Monday and it was unknown whether he has an attorney.

According to police, he admitted to having sex with the woman but said it was with her consent.
