ID Thief Intercepted iPhone Delivery at Miami House: Police

Video shows suspect intercepting UPS truck outside victim's home

Miami detectives are searching for a suspect who stole personal information from a Verizon Wireless customer to order himself a new iPhone and then intercepted its delivery at the customer's home.

According to a police report, the man went into a Verizon store on September 9 and ordered an iPhone using a stolen identity to be delivered the next day.

When the identity theft victim received an email regarding the purchase, he called the phone company only to find out that his personal information had been used without his knowing.

The next day, while he waited the arrival of the phone, the suspect parked outside his house in Little Havana around 10:30 a.m. and intercepted the delivery from the UPS truck, according to the report.

Surveillance footage showed the victim's mother-in-law yelling at the suspect that the package is hers, before he drove away in a champagne Chevy Malibu.

Anyone with knowledge of the suspect is asked to contact the Miami Police Department's General Investigations Unit.
