Margate AutoZone Robbed at Gunpoint

Authorities are investigating after employees of a Margate AutoZone were tied up and robbed at gunpoint.

The frightening robbery happened as the employees were closing up the store at 6650 W. Atlantic Boulevard just before 9 p.m. Thursday.

Employees said two men wearing masks and armed with guns came inside and duct taped and tied up the four workers who were in the store.

The manager was forced to open the safe and hand over cash. The suspects fled when a customer walked in and scared them off, employees said.

"I was frightened because both of them had guns and I didn't know what might happen next," employee Victor Hidalgo said. "You never know when you have a gun drawn to your face."

No one was hurt and the suspects were caught a short time later. Police haven't released their identities.
