Marlins Drop Third Straight in Rainy Atlanta

The Marlins lost a third consecutive game with an 8-5 defeat on Thursday in Atlanta

The Miami Marlins waited out rain delay before falling to the Atlanta Braves by a final score of 8-5 on Thursday.

The loss continued a season-long trend of dominance for Atlanta over Miami. Despite having one of the worst records in Major League Baseball, the Braves have won nearly every game against the Marlins this season. Thursday's loss was also Miami's third defeat in a row.

The rain delay lasted 68 minutes and came when Miami was leading 3-0. Starter Wei-Yin Chen remained in the game after the delay, but did not appear to be as strong. Chen ended up going 5.1 innings in which he allowed four runs on eight hits. The lefty now has a 4-3 record this season and a 5.11 E.R.A.

When Chen was lifted from the game, Miami was still leading by one. Mike Dunn entered however and allowed Chen's two inherited runners to score. Dunn also let two of his own runners to score. Dunn now has a 5.40 E.R.A this season and has allowed a high percentage of inherited runners to reach the plate.

It was a mostly quiet day for Miami's offense, outside of one blast from Justin Bour. The first baseman hit his 15th home run of the year, and it was of the three-run variety.

Miami has not announced a starter for Friday's game, but it is expected that Justin Nicolino will return from AAA for the job.
