Marlins Move Over .500 With Seventh Straight Win

Miami has a winning record after picking up a seventh straight victory on Saturday

The Miami Marlins have a winning record for the first time since 2014 after beating the Milwaukee Brewers 7-5 on Saturday.

The victory was Miami's seventh in a row and gave the team a 13-12 record on the year. The Marlins clinched a second straight series win, and are now 7-2 on the current road trip with one game to go. This is the first time Miami has been over. 500 since 2014.

The Marlins powered their way to the win with four home runs. Derek Dietrich hit his second home run of the season and did it to start the game. Dietrich hit a lead-off home run which was the first such blast of the season for Miami. The versatile player was making a second straight start at second base, in place of the suspended Dee Gordon.

Adeiny Hechavarria also hit his second home run of the season. The shortstop had a four-hit day after resting in the opener of the series. Hechavarria is now hitting .222 on the season.

Giancarlo Stanton hit his eighth home run of the season and fifth of the week. Stanton now has 19 runs batted in this year, and turned his month around after a prolonged slump to begin the season.

Miami's other home run came courtesy of Marcell Ozuna. The center fielder's HR was his third of the year and was part of a two-hit day. Ozuna is now hitting .235 and continues to hit in the sixth slot of the lineup.

Wei-Yin Chen started the game and came away with the win. Chen lasted 6.2 innings in which he allowed three runs on four hits. The lefty struck out four and walked two. Chen who signed as a free-agent in the off-season now has a 4.26E.R.A this season.

Craig Breslow would come in for Chen in the seventh and let two inherited runs score. Breslow would also also two runs of his own without retiring anyone. Bryan Morris replaced Breslow and ended the inning quickly.

David Phelps worked the ninth to earn his first save of the season.

Miami will look for the sweep and an eighth straight win with Tom Koehler on the mound on Sunday.
