Masked Burglar Caught Red-Handed Behind Air Conditioner: Miami Police

A Miami burglar was caught red-handed after he was found hiding behind an air conditioner wearing a mask and gloves, police said.

Leonel Andino, 43, was charged with burglary of an unoccupied structure and criminal mischief following his arrest early Thursday morning.

Andino was booked into jail on $12,500 bond. It was unknown if he has an attorney.

Police said an officer was on routine patrol when he was flagged down by a witness who saw a suspicious man running between homes in the area of Northwest 62nd Court and Northwest 2nd Street around 3:15 a.m.

A suspect matching the description from the witness was spotted a short time later. He fled from officers and a perimeter was set up, police said.

Andino was found hiding behind the air conditioner at a home in the 100 block of Northwest 62nd Avenue, police said. He was still wearing a mask, black gloves and had burglary tools, police said.
