Mechanic Puts the Brakes on Robbery Attempt

Store owner refused to be a victim

Three armed men walked into an auto repair store in Miami looking to score an easy robbery. Only one of them walked out without a bullet in them.

Miami Police said the men went from suspects to victims after the store's owner, Omar Rangel, opened fire on the intruders, sending two to the hospital.

Rangel owns Okay Auto Tire Service at 4119 NW 2nd Ave. and had just opened for business when the suspects stormed in demanding cash. Rangel apparently wasn't in the mood to be a victim.

At some point, one of the men shot at Rangel, who pulled his pistol and fired back. The suspects were transported to Ryder Trauma Center with unspecified injuries. A third man is still on the loose.
