It appears you would have to be a magician not to become a crime victim in the Magic City.

Miami ranks seventh on the most a recent 11 Most Dangerous Cities in America list based on FBI crime stats. According to the crime risk assessment, Miami residents are more than three times as likely to be a victim of a crime as the rest of the nation.

Of course, Miamians are down right safe compared to people in Saint Louis, who have a crime risk five times the national average.

The analysis was done by Onboard Informatics, which puts out the list. The think tank broke down crime stats from the last seven years to come up with cities you might not want to leave your doors unlocked in.

In addition to violent crimes like rape and murder, the crime risk analysis also includes property crime and grand theft auto.

But there is a glimmer of hope. Since 1991, violent and property crime nationwide has decreased despite population increases.

So maybe it is safe to go outside.
