Miami Beach Boy is First South Florida Baby of 2014

A baby boy born at Mount Sinai Medical Center in Miami Beach appears to be the first baby born in South Florida in 2014.

The boy, Daniel Gudtcova, was born at 12:23 a.m. at the hospital, spokeswoman Joanna Palmer said. He weighed 8 pounds, 4 ounces and was 21 inches long.

Another boy, Jonathan Guerrero, was born at Jackson Memorial Hospital at 2:05 a.m. Jonathan's parents said they were hosting a New Year's Eve party when they announced they had to go to the hospital.

A boy at Memorial Hospital Miramar just missed being the first baby of 2014 after he was born at 12:30, a hospital spokesperson said.

Wesley Snedaker was 7 pounds, 7 ounces and 20 inches long, and can at least claim to be the first Broward baby of 2014.

"I didn't care if he was the first baby, I just wanted him out, he was so hard," mother Sabrina Snedaker said.
