A fire near the Surfside border in Miami Beach knocked out power to thousands of residents and generated heavy traffic in the nearby area.
Miami Beach Fire said the fire was at 86th Street and Collins Avenue. Police diverted traffic on Collins at 86th which has led to traffic tie-ups during rush hour.
Florida Power and Light had to shut down the power grid in the area of 86th and Collins due to the fire. FPL said approximately 3,700 people were without power due to the shutdown of the power grid.
The power was restored shortly after 5 p.m.
