Miami Beach Police Fear Alleged Killer Back in South Florida

A young life gone too soon, ending what was supposed to be a good time in South Florida. The bullets and the weapons lead to, what detectives call, a cold-blooded killer. But he's a man still on the loose.

Police who have been hunting him worry that he could kill again and think after two years evading them, he could be in South Florida once again.

The good times inside a South Beach hotspot are what drew Atlanta resident Max Brody to visit just after ringing in the New Year in 2014. The events promoter from Georgia, by all accounts, was having a great time, right until he left Mansion Nightclub and stopped for fuel at the well-lit and busy Shell gas station on 5th Street.

Police said when he looked up from the rear of his black Camaro, 21-year-old Miguel Izaguirre was cocking his weapon and heading to rob Brody.

"Saw that the subject had racked his gun, causing a round to come out of his gun," said Sgt. Elise Spina Taylor with Miami Beach Police.

Sgt. Taylor told NBC 6 what happened next was an execution, "Our victim owned a gun, so he ran to the passenger side of his vehicle. We know that the victim fired at least one round and it struck the subject and caused him to start bleeding. Then his gun jammed."

Sgt. Taylor said the subject then walked up to the victim and shot him in the head.

The calls to 911 were made, and Brody's friends were looking for him. His last test messages:

Friend: Where U at
Brody: You wanna do sumthin or you stayin in
Friend: Please tell me ur OK
Friend 2: Max call me asap
Friend 2: I love u tell me ur OK down there

Sgt. Taylor said by the time Brody had died, Izaguirre had used the same terrifying tactic cocking his weapon to rob several others on South Beach.

She said those he robbed were absolutely terrified. One of the victims had a weapon on him but said he didn't even think about reaching for it.

Izaguirre may have gone to Central America for a while but police think now he could be back as he has close family in South Florida. He is 5-feet 6-inches tall and 160 pounds. His last known address was in Hallandale.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts is urged to call Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS.
