Miami Beach Police Searching For Knife-Carrying, Attempted Robbery Suspect

Officers in Miami Beach are asking for the public's help to capture an alleged robber who used a knife to scare a parking attendant late last month.

Police released surveillance photos of the incident, which took place May 26 at a parking garage located near the intersection of Collins Avenue and 16th Street.

After entering the garage, the alleged suspect turned around and stopped his vehicle on the exit ramp. The man, described as a white male in his 20's, got out of the car with his face covered and entered the toll booth with a large knife and attempted to rob the female clerk.

"He pushed me and said he wanted the money. So he tried to kill me," said the woman, only identified as Rose.

After a struggle, the suspect fled the scene without any money or other items and the victim was not hurt.

"In this case, the victim, thankfully, was not injured," said Miami Beach Police spokesman Ernesto Rodriguez. "You see what he is capable of and we need to get him off the street before he potentially hurts someone else."

Pictures show the suspect leaving in a black 1995 Chevrolet Camaro convertible with chrome rims. Police said the vehicle could have damage to the hood as a result of running into a gate while fleeing the scene.

Anyone with information on this case is urged to call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS.
