Miami Beach Police are searching for a man who allegedly broke into a woman’s home and sexually assaulted her as she slept on the couch.

Officers say the incident happened Sunday morning at the home near 83rd Street and Crespi Boulevard, with the victim saying she was asleep and awoke to the man assaulting her. After he allegedly refused to stop despite her screams, the woman was able to escape the apartment and scream for help as the suspect fled the scene.

Miami Beach Police spokesman Ernesto Rodriguez said the man exposed himself during the encounter.

"This is a very concerning incident, we have a lot of our police resources directly involved in this case," Rodriguez said.

Police released a sketch of the the person they're looking for, who is described as a white or Hispanic male between 20 and 25 years of age, between 5-foot-7 and 5-foot-9, while weighing 160 pounds with a thin build and wearing a dark unzipped hooded sweatshirt and jeans.

The victim said she also had both an iPhone and small amount of cash stolen.
