Miami-Bound Flight Diverted After Drunk Passenger Becomes Unruly: Officials

A non-stop flight from Los Angeles to Miami made an uncheduled stop in Phoenix Tuesday night after a passenger became drunk and unruly, officials said.

The 28-year-old man was part of a wedding party on American Airlines Flight 258 which took off at 10:26 p.m. Pacific time, an American Airlines spokesman said.

While on the flight, the man had a few too many drinks and got into a confrontation with another passenger who was traveling with his family, officials said.

The man refused to follow orders from a flight attendant, so the flight was diverted to Phoenix around 11:30 p.m.

The passenger was removed and the flight continued on to Miami, where it landed early this morning. No one wanted to participate in prosecution, so the man was booked on a later flight, officials said.
