Miami Commissioners Approve $975K Payment in Fatal Police Shooting

Four years after a man was shot and killed by Miami Police, commissioners have approved a $975,000 payment to his estate.

Miami commissioners approved the payment to the estate of Travil McNeil on Thursday as part of a settlement.

McNeil, 28, and cousin Kareem Williams were shot by police during a Feb. 11, 2011 traffic stop. Williams survived the shooting.

The officer said he thought McNeil reached for a gun but no guns were found in the car. Prosecutors didn't charge the officer in the shooting.

McNeil's estate includes his teenage son and younger daughter.
