Miami Custom Jeans Store Targeted by Thieves

Miami Police are looking for four men who targeted A-7 Jeans for a robbery and fired at one of the business’ owners, and it was all caught on surveillance video.

The group crossed Little River Street in Miami and quickly knocked out a surveillance camera. Then they burst into the business through the roof and landed on a stockpile of hand-made designer denim.

“Our jeans are well-known for being embellished with Swarovski crystals,” said Meir Yamin, designer and co-owner of A-7 Jeans. “However, they decided to take them both separately. The jeans separately, and the crystals separately.”

The crooks cleared two shelves of jeans before Yamin’s business partner was driving by and noticed the shop’s front gate was open. The co-owner decided to stop in and check on things and was met with gunfire. One bullet lodged just below the windshield.

“It’s so sad to think a person can lose his life in such a way, so fast, so easy, and for what? Jeans,” Yamin lamented.

The thieves also got into the business’ office and stole a computer that was on a desk. The computer, according to Yamin, was invaluable as the business prepared for a big show in Las Vegas.

“There is the entire year of my designs in that computer,” Yasmin said. “I’m not sure how I’m going to be ready in three weeks to remake all of them. We feel bad, not because we lost a day of business; we feel bad because those ladies need the money and need to work.”

Police haven’t put an exact dollar amount on the items taken. If you have any information on the crime, call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS (8477).
