The flags are at half-mast at the Drug Enforcement Administration's Miami field office to honor an agent killed in Afghanistan.

Special Agent in Charge Mark Trouville wore a black band across his DEA badge Wednesday to remember Special Agent Chad Michael, 30.

Michael was among three DEA agents killed Monday in a helicopter crash in Afghanistan. He had worked in Miami until August.

He was a Hillsborough County sheriff's deputy before joining the DEA six years ago.

At the DEA field office in Weston, Trouville said Michael handled significant, international investigations despite being young.

Trouville says Michael's cases included money laundering and heroin smuggling operations. He also worked undercover.

Michael was born in Pennsylvania.
