Miami-Dade Judge Admonishes Man With 14 Kids, $50K in Back Child Support

A man jailed for owing nearly $50,000 in child support payments for some of his 14 children was admonished by a Miami-Dade judge in bond court Friday.

James Charles White, 49, was arrested on an out-of-county warrant Tuesday before going before Judge Mindy Glazer to answer for owing $48,650 in back child support.

"I haven't seen that sum in, I don't think ever," Glazer told White.

"I did 23 years in prison, I got 14 Kids," White said. "I'm a good father, believe me."

White said the payments were supposed to have been on hold while he was in prison but they weren't. He also added that he owns a tree service.

"You work but you're not paying your child support, are you?" Glazer responded.

White's bond had been set at the full amount of $48,650, but Glazer said she would lower it to $4,000, if only for his 14 children.

"This court does have to show some humanity, I understand these children need to eat, they need to be fed, and somebody's been paying for them to do it, it hasn't been you sir," Glazer said. "You know it's easy to make them, it's hard to take care of them. Just be mindful of that, if you're gonna have any more children, they're expensive and it doesn't stop."

It's been a busy month for Glazer, whose emotional reunion with a former classmate in her courtroom went viral after the video was posted online.
