Miami-Dade Police Warn Residents of Arrest Scam

The Miami-Dade Police Department is conducting an investigation into an attempted scam regarding a false warrant.

The victim informed police she was contacted via phone by a subject who identified himself as Detective Kent Sellers of the Hammocks District.

The subject reportedly told the victim he was in possession of a warrant for her arrest and she needed to pay him $995, using PayPal, in order to avoid arrest.

The victim called police who informed her that a warrant for her arrest did not exist.

MDPD would like to inform the community of this incident and urge them to report any similar occurrences by calling Crime Stoppers at (305) 471-TIPS.
