Miami Dolphins' Davone Bess Gives Holiday Gifts to Needy Families

Davone Bess and his teammates gave the goodies through the Bess Route Foundation

Ten South Florida families are bagging $500 worth of goodies thanks to the Miami Dolphins' Davone Bess and his teammates through the Bess Route Foundation.

"This is what the holiday spirit's all about," said Jason Taylor, #99.

Taylor said he doesn't like crowds so he usually avoids the mall, and figured he might not be much help navigating the aisles.

Former Dolphin Channing Crowder showed more confidence helping sisters pick out matching tops and pants.

"Oh, I am a very dapper individual," he said, laughing. "It's nothing better than to see these kids smiling."

Children included 11-year-old Jaiya Anderson, who suffers frome leukemia. Bess helped her pick out toys to give her some entertainment for her next hospital stay.

Alan Padilla took home toys for his son and 2-week-old daughter. He and heir mother have struggled to find employment.

"Even $2 will make a difference," he said. "$500 will make a world of change for us."
