Ryan Tannehill Suffers Sprained ACL, MCL Injury; Timetable Unknown for Recovery: Coach

If there is any bit of good news that came from Sunday's injury to Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill, it came when head coach Adam Gase announced the quarterback suffered a sprain to his ACL and MCL - but did not tear either one.

Gase would not say if Tannehill would be able to come back at some point over the final three games of the regular season or a possible playoff berth. He said a timetable hasn't been decided on his recovery, but that he would not practice this week.

Tannehill was hit on a play late in the third quarter by the Arizona Cardinals’ Calais Campbell that sent the signal caller to the ground in pain. He was taken to the locker room and later returned to the sideline in street clothes, with national television cameras showing emotional exchanges between the quarterback and his teammates.

Tannehill’s teammates are standing by their quarterback – including the man who will likely replace him for the final three regular season games.

“I told him I loved him and you know, I said this team - regardless of your what your situation is - this team still needs you,” said Matt Moore, who came into the game and led the team to a 26-23 win.

The dolphins’ next game is Saturday night against the rival New York Jets – a game you can see on NBC 6 – before finishing the season with two more divisional games, at the Buffalo Bills and at home against the New England Patriots.

Miami currently sits in seventh place in the AFC playoff standings, one game out of their first playoff spot since the 2008 season.
