Man Accused of Threatening Miami Gardens Mosque

A man accused of writing social media posts threatening to kill Muslims had been visiting a Miami Gardens mosque for evening communal dinners during the Islamic holy month of Ramadan.

Brandyn Luis Hernandez, 27, was arrested Monday after police responded to a report of cyber terrorism threats toward the Islamic Center of Greater Miami-Masjid Miami Gardens.

The social media messages contained expletives and threats of arson and to "kill Muslims one by one" with no due process, police said.

Investigators found Hernandez had recently started to visit the mosque for communal dinners, where worshipers break fast together during Ramadan.

Surveillance cameras also captured Hernandez participating in prayer this past Saturday.

Hernandez faces charges of written threats to kill or do bodily injury and assault with prejudice. He's being held at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center on $8,500 bond. Attorney information was not available.
