Miami Gardens Police say they are searching for three carjackers who later tried to rob a second person.

That second person, a man in a Dodge pickup truck, was shot in a shootout with the three suspects, police said.

The carjackers tried to drive off but slammed into another driver, who ran into a Burger King for help, as the suspects took off on foot, according to police.

"Gunshots erupt, bullets are flying in a very busy area, and fortunately other than a gentleman in the Dodge pickup truck, no one else was injured in this incident,” said Miami Gardens Police Sgt. Bill Bamford.

The first incident occurred at NW 2nd Ave and 187th Street at 1:30 p.m. The driver of a silver Impala said he was forced out of his car by the three suspects.

"I got to the stop sign and three guys ran up on me and carjacked me," said a man who did not give his name. "That's all it was, and I ran. I ran."

He said he wasn't surprised by the incident. "This is Miami, man."
