    As many as 600 families received their Thanksgiving meals from the Miami Heat stars on Tuesday.

    Dwyane Wade, LeBron James and other players were at the Heat Thanksgiving Celebration, an annual event attended by more than 1,000 people at the Miami Rescue Mission.

    "The food is delicious, and we’re just happy," Fannie Johnson told NBC 6 South Florida.

    The celebration also included a block party full of games, music and dancing.

    "Everyone’s joining together as one big, happy family for this special event," Olga Gomez said.

    Ronald Brummitt, the president of the Miami Rescue Mission, spoke about the excitement.

    “People have been in line since 8 o’clock in the morning to see the Miami Heat and receive their box of food," he said. "All the activities inside for the children, the players will be playing with the children, they’re very excited and more than that, they’re thankful to have something on their table this Thanksgiving.”

    The Heat Thanksgiving Celebration, courtesy of Florida Blue, provided meals for families from Homestead, Overtown, Little Havana, and north to Fort Lauderdale.

    “It’s a blessing and an honor for them to be here and serve us like this," Johnson told NBC 6 South Florida. "I give God all the glory for using them to be a blessing to us, so I’m excited.”
