Miami Heat's Gerald Green Punched Person in Condo Lobby: Miami Police Report

Miami Heat forward Gerald Green punched a person in the eye and had blood on his hands before he was hospitalized last week, according to a Miami Police report released Wednesday.

According to the report, an officer was called to Green's condo on Biscayne Boulevard on Nov. 4 for an "agitated patient" and found Green handcuffed and on the floor of the building's lobby.

A witness told the officer Green had come down from his unit and requested the front desk call fire rescue, the report said. The witness noticed blood on the hands of Green, who walked out of the lobby to the valet parking ramp where he collapsed, the report said.

Green was able to get up and walk back into the lobby and tried to go back to his unit but one witness tried to hold him there to wait for fire rescue to arrive, the report said. That's when Green punched the person in the right eye, the report said.

When Green became "very loud and verbally combative" he was restrained, the report said. He was placed on a stretcher and taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital.

The victim who was punched didn't wish to press charges, according to the report.

Green has since been suspended by the Heat for two games for conduct detrimental to the team, officials said.

“I want to apologize to my family, fans and the Heat organization," Green in a statement released by the team. “I accept the suspension and look forward to rejoining my teammates this weekend."
