Miami Hurricanes QB Jack Allison Announces Transfer From School

Days after spring practice came to an end for the Miami Hurricanes football team, head coach Mark Richt now knows he will have one less quarterback to worry about in what has become a heated competition.

Jack Allison, who entered spring practice with a shot at the starting spot after redshirting during his first season in Coral Gables, announced Tuesday he will transfer from the program.

Allison will have to sit out the 2017 season if he chooses to transfer to another Football Bowl Subdivision school, but could play immediately if he goes to the lower Football Championship Subdivision.

The former four star recruit signed with Miami in 2016 after a star studded prep career at Palmetto High School, just outside Bradenton. He chose the Hurricanes over schools such as Alabama, Missouri and Tennessee – but redshirted his first year while Brad Kaaya continued as the team’s starter.

Allison's transfer still leaves a crowded group looking to replace Kaaya , who left after his junior year for the NFL Draft. Evan Sheriffs, Cade Weldon and Malik Rosier all took part in spring practice while many fans expected incoming freshman N’Kosi Perry to compete for the starting spot when he arrives this summer.
