Miami Lakes Home Invasion Suspect Arrested

One person was arrested Friday for allegedly forcing themselves into a Miami Lakes home and then firing his gun.

Miami-Dade Police said the home invasion happened around 10 a.m. on the 8300 block of NW 163rd Terrace. A man knocked on the homeowner’s door and when the door was opened, forced his way inside, and then fired his gun. All the while, her 15-year-old was hiding in the closet and called 911.

“My heart is beating so fast, I’m all jittery,” the victim said. “I’m actually shaking. This is something we’re really not used to.”

Police arrived within five minutes and the suspect took off running. A two-block perimeter was set up and after around 20 minutes of searching, police K-9 units found the suspect and he was taken into custody.
