Miami Man Accused of Raping Woman He Offered to Help: MDPD

A Miami man is accused of raping a West Palm Beach woman whom he promised a ride home from Bayside after her boyfriend left her there, police say.

Sergio Ulyses Montero, 22, was arrested and charged with sexual battery Tuesday in connection with the alleged May 29 incident. According to a police report, the West Palm Beach woman claims to have had a fight with her boyfriend that night, and that her boyfriend left her in the area of 401 Biscayne Boulevard in Miami.

The woman says she had been drinking and was not familiar with the area, and that she was sitting on a bench crying when Montero approached her and offered a ride home.

According to the report, the woman walked with Montero to a nearby parking garage where he demanded that she had to perform a sexual act on him.

The victim says Montero forced himself on her against a car. She says Montero then convinced her to accompany him to a residence, still promising to eventually take her home.

At the residence, the woman says Montero again forced himself on her several times before allowing her to leave.

She reported this to police, and identified Montero in a photo lineup.

When police arrested Montero, he stated that he knew the victim and had previously sold her drugs. Montero claimed the woman offered to perform sexual acts in exchange for drugs.

Montero went on to say that he too was under the influence of several drugs the night of the alleged incident, and that he had no recollection of what happened that night. Montero adamantly denied raping the victim.

Montero was ordered held on $30,000 bond. It is not known if he has hired an attorney.
